VIDEO TUTORIAL: Scripting FluidFX and FluidFX workflow- Advanced
Hi guys, I’ve collected some very useful scripts and techniques for working with Maya FluidFX in production. The video will cover both scripting and workflow for getting the most out of FluidFX which can often be frustrating especially with time/budget constraints
Scripting techniques discussed are:
- copying values from one fluidfx node to another: perfect for long dust trails as you can use a high res for the detailed bit and a longer or bigger low res for the rest of the sim. the text in the script used is here
- setting fluid attributes with particles including velocity which is just a variation on the last example. but the new script is here
- making water drops/ripples using fluidfx the script used in the video is here
addendum: there is an attribute in the script that adds density. its only on positive which would make the ripple rise at first. plus the shading only accounts for that in the video. so if you were to make that a negative density amount then you could also and another swatch to the colour widget to give colour to the negative density values. this is straight forward since 0.5 is considered null in the widget (at bias 0). for example just have black in the middle at pos 0.5 and whatever colour you like either side. simple.
Secondly, I’ll be going through some FluidFX workflows suited for speed and optimisation. I’ve broken it up into two parts. Scripting and workflow. Heres the first part
